Tom Hood Community Science College is now a Ranger Outpost enabled site which means that students can accessfiles on the school's network from home. In order for files to be transferred between school and home, a simple program called "Ranger Outpost Client" is required to be installed on your home computer. Tom Hood Community Science College is an award winning learning and community facility with a variety of apt facilities for many occasions.
Tom Hood Community Science College is used by a wide range people, providing services for the local community, local organizations and commercial groups.
Pressure on open space for sporting activities and events are in decline in local areas. This is where Tom Hood Community Science College facilities provide the perfect range of solutions. It offers a comprehensive range of facilities for hire at competitive rates and provides the ideal surroundings for sports activities, social and educational events. The Site Services team at Tom Hood Community Science College, who all live locally, offer a friendly, professional service and are responsive to the needs of the community as well as commercial users. It offers a range of well-equipped facilities. This landmark building has ICT facilities that are available for hire.We have a versatile, climate controlled multi-purpose room that seats up to 12 people comfortably and has all the equipment needed for training or meeting. We also numerous classrooms available to lead classes.
Facilities at Tom Hood Community Science College include:
• Multi use classrooms with whiteboard facility • 200 seater capacity Hall • 3 meeting rooms for hire (capacity 12, 16 or 20 people) • High quality presentation equipment available for hire at competitive rates • Purpose built self contained unit with disable access for conferences, interviews and learning sessions. Sport facilities are excellent. They include:
· Multi purpose sports hall · Specialist gymnasium/dance · Floodlit all weather area · Floodlit tennis/netball courts · Climbing Wall
The facilities on offer for hire as from September 2008 are: -
Gym Block: Full use of gymnasium. Sports Hall: Full use of sports hall including changing rooms. Hard play area: Full use of tennis courts / football, hockey area / changing rooms.
The school is built on a spacious site and includes extensive hard play areas, an all weather pitch and our community garden. There are six main blocks:-
· Music room and Drama studio · Practical Block · Gymnasium · Sports Hall · Main Teaching Block · Tom Hood Advice and Support Centre (THASC)
These areas include 7 science labs, a technology area housing Food Technology, Design Technology, Textiles and Art and excellent ICT facilities with 200 computers situated in a modern suite of rooms and in other areas around the school. These have nearly all been upgraded this year. We also have a fully equipped Learning Resource Centre with a large modern book stock, internet access, journals and magazines.
Much effort has been expended on improving the school environment. Most rooms and corridor areas have now been redecorated and refurbished, and a number of major building works have taken place. Recently, we have extended our ICT provision by extending our interactive whiteboards into all departments.
The letting periods: Monday to Friday 6.00pm to 10.00pm Saturday / Sunday 9.00am to 10.00pm
There is limited access Monday to Friday 4.00pm to 6.00pm, depending upon school pupil use who have priority at all times.
Enclosed you will find the School hire conditions of booking, which you will have to agree and accept and complete an application form.
If your organisation is eligible for a grant, either from Waltham Forest or other agency, this will have to be applied and confirmed by your organisation prior to the booking and full details supplied, including method of payment, with your booking form.
Completed application forms to be forwarded to The Lettings Secretary, at the above address.
The building is a NO SMOKING building.
Invoices An invoice will be raised for each letting or group of lettings, and payment must be received by the school at least 7 days in advance of the event or first event for period lettings. For rates please contact the school.

Tom Hood After School Clubs
|
Tea-Time – Thursdays, 3-4pm, ongoing Year 7 Club run by Ms Miller. Play games, make new friends. See Ms Miller in G34/THASC for more information.
Rock School – Fridays, 3-5pm, ongoing Guitar, drums, singing. Run by Mark McGlynn (independent tutor). In THASC. Everyone welcome – just come along Talent Show, Tues and Weds, 3-4pm to 28 January Rehearsals preparing for Raw Talent, our pupil-led talent night on 29 January. Front of house and back stage helpers needed. See Mr Hewett/Ms Bynon in THASC for more information.
Rope Games and Climbing, Tuesdays, 3-4pm, 20 Jan – 10 March Year 7 and 8 Club run by Lucy Fernie (from Stubbers Outdoor Centre). Only 12 places, and everyone who attends all the sessions will go on a free trip to Stubbers or Mile end on the last session. All year 7s and 8s welcome
Playing for Success at SCORE, Thursdays, 3.30-5.30pm (transport provided) 12 Jan-April 09 Year 8 Club run by Leyton Orient Football Club in the ICT centre at the SCORE Centre. Football related ICT activities plus a visit to the pitch and players area. Minibus collects and returns pupils to the school. All interested Year 8s to see Ms Bynon/Mr Hewett in THASC Fair Play Football, Thursdays 4.30-.6.00 all term Football for Years 7-9, run by Sam Plester (independent tutor). Coaching and games. All year 7, 8 and 9 pupils welcome.
Kickz Football and Basketball, Mon Weds and Friday, 6pm-8pm all year round Coaching and games run by Leyton Orient 3 evenings a week. Basketball on Wednesdays. Open to all – come along.
